Acetic Cure Silicone Sealant

Fast-curing, economical acetic silicone sealant for compatible glass, ceramic, tile, bathroom, kitchen, and sanitary sealing.

Acetic Cure Silicone Sealant

Product Overview

Acetic cure silicone, also called acetoxy silicone, releases acetic acid during curing and is recognized by its vinegar-like odor. It generally develops adhesion and cures quickly on compatible non-porous materials such as standard glass, glazed ceramic, porcelain, and tile.

Sanitary grades can be formulated with mildew-resistant performance for bathroom, kitchen, sink, tub, shower, and tile-perimeter joints. The exact grade should be confirmed for continuous water exposure, food-contact areas, aquariums, or other regulated uses.

Because the acidic curing by-product can affect sensitive materials, acetic silicone is generally not the first choice for unprotected metals, mirrors, coated or specialty glass, natural stone, concrete, cement-based substrates, or mixed-material curtain-wall systems. Neutral architectural silicone is normally the more suitable direction for those applications.

Jiaobao can support economical general-purpose and sanitary OEM grades with customized cure speed, mildew-resistance direction, color, cartridge capacity, labels, cartons, and private-label artwork.

Neutral or acetic silicone?

Both are one-part silicone sealants, but their cure systems change substrate compatibility and the applications they suit best.

Neutral Cure Silicone Sealant

Best suited for

Windows, doors, aluminum, coated glass, facades, masonry, and mixed-material construction joints.

For curtain-wall weathersealing or structural glazing, select an architectural or structural grade verified for the project requirements.

FAQ

Is acetic silicone suitable for bathrooms?

Yes. A sanitary acetic silicone grade can be a strong choice for compatible glass, ceramic, porcelain, tile, sinks, tubs, and shower joints. Select a mildew-resistant grade and confirm substrate compatibility.

Can acetic silicone be used on curtain walls?

It is generally not the preferred choice for curtain-wall systems containing aluminum, coated glass, stone, concrete, or mixed substrates. Neutral architectural silicone is normally used for curtain-wall weathersealing, while structural glazing requires a dedicated approved structural grade.

Which materials should be avoided?

Compatibility should be checked carefully on copper and other sensitive metals, mirrors, coated or specialty glass, natural stone, concrete, cement-based materials, and porous or alkaline substrates.
